Connor Vreeken is a professional basketball player who was born and raised in Kingston (graduating from Frontenac Secondary School in 2018). His basketball career includes playing on both Team Canada and Team Ontario, winning 4 USports National Championships with the Carleton Ravens, and most recently a CEBL championship with the Niagara River Lions this past summer in Canada’s top professional basketball league.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">During his workshop, he shared his lived experience as an athlete from Kingston who had aspirations of pursuing his passion at a higher level. Using examples from his own basketball journey, he talked with our students about the importance of goal setting, perseverance, dealing with failure, self-belief, and many other valuable life skills. In addition to sharing his story and experiences, he led a basketball practice with three of the grade 4-8 classes in our school!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Aside from his professional playing career, Connor is also the Director of YXU Basketball - a basketball skill development business in Kingston. He offers basketball development sessions and youth mentorship for young athletes who may be interested in trying basketball for their first time or are gearing up for the start of their elementary school season. Connor’s philosophy is that every athlete needs a ball in their hands the entire time they are in the gym to truly have the opportunity to improve their skills. In Connor’s program your child will be taught the essential skills needed to have success on the court and will be given the opportunity to learn at their own pace while applying the skills in a controlled manner for maximal retention. Many leagues offer the opportunity to play, but few ensure that your child has the ball in their hands when it matters the most.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">If you would like more information or to register please follow the links below or contact Connor via email at info@yxubasketball.com.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The first 4 registrants who use code: “Fairfield25” will receive $25 off upcoming programs!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Spring Skill Foundations Program (March 23rd-April 30th)</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://yxubasketball.com/pages/spring-skill-foundations-2026/spring-skill-foundations-2026-bqag5yu7" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">https://yxubasketball.com/pages/spring-skill-foundations-2026/spring-skill-foundations-2026-bqag5yu7</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Summer Playing Foundations Program (May 4th-June 11th)</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="https://yxubasketball.com/pages/summer-playing-foundations/summer-playing-foundations-545snwa0" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">https://yxubasketball.com/pages/summer-playing-foundations/summer-playing-foundations-545snwa0</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><hr><p class="editor-paragraph"><br></p><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">EarlyON Calendar</span></h2><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/e03ee0bd-302e-4875-b2d8-227e405efa48" alt="March Early ON calendar 2026" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><hr><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/26039938-18ef-46a1-942d-5c095180b981" alt="2026 01 05 Kindergarten Student Registration E Newsletter Graphic 1" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><hr><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/a978a03e-a540-4ca1-aa40-49ba27a07164" alt="sick" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/fbfe1e99-d1f8-43c1-8ff6-2129b9b143c1" alt="sick 2" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr"><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: center;"><img src="/images/613b0f76-c129-42d4-8307-316dc3be483c" alt="Lunch" width="273" height="131" style="width:273px;height:131px;display:inline-block"></p><h5 class="editor-heading-h5" style="text-align: center;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span><ie-document data-lexical-document-id="dafba703-43ad-4064-b962-b92da10d1463"></ie-document></h5><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Hot Dog Days</span></h3><h5 class="editor-heading-h5" dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our School Council proudly present one of their most successful fundraisers...HOT DOG DAY 2025-2026! Limestone DSB Schools to Participate in Kingston Community Climate Action Fund FoodCycler Project

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Limestone District School Board schools will participate in this year’s Kingston Community Climate Action Fund (KCCAF) initiative, supported by the City of Kingston and led by Sustainable Kingston. The project aims to turn everyday school lunch waste into meaningful climate action by introducing FoodCyclers in five to seven local elementary schools, with the long-term goal of securing a unit for each elementary school across the City of Kingston. These units will complement existing food-based programming and serve as an additional hands-on learning tool for students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The initiative will help divert organic waste from student snacks and lunches away from landfill. Along with reducing methane emissions, the project will provide real-world learning opportunities by helping students deepen their understanding of sustainability, waste reduction, and the circular economy. </span><a href="https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cityofkingston.ca%2Fnews%2Fposts%2Fcommunity-donations-sought-to-double-climate-impact-in-local-schools%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7Ccrothersm%40limestone.on.ca%7C05b07ce6640b41c56fb008de757bf3b3%7Ce1f4165febae4d82a73ca0de593830be%7C0%7C0%7C639077372412072201%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=7QHs6289rcFNO5fKd%2Ft%2Fqgr5HdPeVSzhclv3fn9DQDE%3D&amp;reserved=0" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Learn more about the project and ways to contribute on the City of Kingston website</span></a><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">.</span></p>
