Earth Hour - Saving Electricity and Helping the Planet
Posted on 04/02/2019

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, people across the world turned off their lights for Earth Hour. By switching off the lights people raise awareness of climate change and the importance of energy conservation.

On Friday, March 29, 2019, Limestone District School Board schools were encouraged to turn off any unnecessary lights for the duration of their lunch hour. This action showed dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Let’s see the difference our school made!

Fairfield Elementary School saved 92 kilowatt-hours!

That could:

  • power 7,077 CFLs (13watt) light bulbs for one hour;
  • save the Greenhouse Gas equivalent of 4 liters of gas;
  • power a laptop for 2,044 hours.
